Former Volgograd Deputy Arrested | News | The Moscow Times
Police in the Volgograd region on Monday arrested a former local MP on charges of pedophilia.
Nikolai Volkov was arrested on charges of rape and sex with minors, the local branch of the Committee of Inquiry said, Interfax reported. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
The victims were girls aged 7 to 15, investigators said.
Volkov, 37, had been a member of United Russia, before moving to a just settlement of Russia, Interfax reported. We do not know the party he represents in the Legislature Volgograd until 2009, when he failed to get re-elected.
Duma deputy Oleg Mikheev, who represents Russia just for the Volgograd region, "said Volkov was expelled from the party in September, Komsomolskaya Pravda reported on its website Monday. He then obtained a job as assistant to leave the Mikheyev up job last week, the MP said.
