Over 129 artists submitted entries earlier this year nominated for four awards of $ 1,000 of art for the fundraiser for the Park Mendocino Parks Assn. (MAPA). MAPA is the volunteer group that supports our local state parks, including its popular glass and MacKerricher Beach.

Two of the four $ 1,000 winners were Fort Bragg Juriaan Blok, Pen & Ink Drawing: "The sunlight in the Redwoods" Eleanor Harvey, Oil Pastel Painting: "here today ..."

A raffle fundraiser for three works gift is set for May 1 in Portuguese Hall in Fort Bragg.Read on to learn more details, including the traveling exhibition.

"There were so many great works and different talents to appreciate this year - all worthy of praise," said Marilyn Boese MAPA volunteers. "It was very difficult for judges to exercise their choice award. All the judges were new to us and they did an excellent job. Special thanks are due our final judge, Jemima Harr, Executive Director Conservative Humboldt Arts Council, Morris Graves Museum of Art, which determined the winners of the prize money."

Winners and other works of local artists - over 100 in total - will be available for bid at auction or purchase "Arts for the Parks", sponsored by the nonprofit Mendocino Area Parks Association (MAPA) on Saturday May 1 at Pentecost Hall, 822 Stewart St., Fort Bragg. There is free entrance to the art show and silent auction 1-4 pm, followed by a $ 25 per person covered picnic in the parks "(includes a glass of wine) and auction 5-8:30 pm.Product Support Mendocino County's17 magnificent state parks.
