2010 Vancouver Olympics | Radical Parenting
Bobsleigh. Snowboarding. Hockey. What all these activities have in common? They are some of the most popular Winter Olympics. The Olympics are an opportunity for countries around the world gather in one place to celebrate the abilities of their athletes. Olympics this year have been particularly interesting if you were in Canada. I found myself watching the Olympics every time I am, it made me proud to be Canadian. It is a rare event and only to receive these great games in your country of origin.
When the Olympics through a country to this extraordinary opportunity, every citizen can feel the excitement everywhere they go. Both weeks of competition celebrated provide a unified country and the excitement is palpable as it is for a recent victory or anticipation of an upcoming event soon. Each event is exhilarating, slipping an ice road to the speed of lightning to the handling of a flip in the air on a snowboard. Almost everyone in my area donned Vancouver 2010 Olympics T-shirt, jacket or gloves. There was a time that brought everyone together in Canada.
Although I am Canadian, I must confess I'm not a big hockey fan. I did not follow during the regular season, but when it comes to the Olympics, I think it is one of the most exciting games ever. My family and I would all sit together and turn the TV to watch whenever and Canada was the clapping at the top of our lungs. My mother was even a cow bell, which rang it every time something exciting (or something) happened. I think the most important event for Canadians should be when both teams won gold in hockey, it was all anyone could talk about at school the next day.
Another sport I did not appreciate until the Olympics was curling. I do not understand how it worked or how incredibly talented, he must be to succeed. The amount of competence required to slide a curling stone on the ice at the precise angle to hit the rock opponent's position is incredible. I'm really looking forward to watch more curling Olympics to come....
