For 200 years, the neighborhood called Bely Gorod, or White Town, was part of a defensive belt around Moscow until in the 18th century, the walls were made obsolete and replaced with 10 boulevards.
Set in 1796, Tverskaya was the first of them, and the cream of the crop Moscow quickly fell in love with her. He was even dubbed the green club "by the aristocracy of the city.
In 1812, boulevard changed dramatically - the armies of Napoleon entered Moscow and soldiers set up their tents along Tverskaya, reducing most of the trees for firewood.

Fortunately, after the French army left Moscow, Tver blossomed. Although new boulevards were laid down, he remained so loved that people simply say "Boulevard" and everyone knew they were talking Tverskoy.
The Russian Revolution and the Second World War, however, again turned into a quiet retirement bloody battlefield. In 1941, the statue of the scientist Kliment Timiriazev set up on the boulevard by the Soviet authorities in 1920, was overthrown by a coup of a German bomb. Fortunately, he was back in his place a few hours later and remains one of the oldest Soviet monuments still standing....
