Sputnik Microphone – by M-Audio | NewMediaGear
Ear-catching name ... microphone very different. The M-Audio "Sputnik Avid Certified" landed on the arrow to Studio 1. As you may be thinking at this moment, this microphone has a name and appearance while being the focal point of what many have called 'hype '. I was in the same boat as research around other positive opinions and the try myself.
The Sputnik is aptly named because it is dressed in polished nickel plating with a retro-facing grill mesh size of the capsule.
What distinguishes the Sputnik apart from others? The electronics are driven by a military-grade 6205M tube. ... A mini-size tube of the vacuum tube allows discreet feeding. 3 models are available - each, giving the microphone a unique sound. Omni really opens up the microphone and gives it a nice "airy" sound, although very sensitive. Figure 8 works as expected, allowing front and rear address. Cardioid is my favorite, because this model gives the microphone a different smoothness. A 10 dB attenuation 80 Hz switchable microphone body.
The Sputnik is delivered in an aluminum flight case, well padded and ready to travel.
Almost everything about the Sputnik is a little different, including the sound. The proximity effect is subtle. I used the mic several times of high-quality Skype calls (using the new codec SILK_V3). Each time, the other party has made a comment on my audio.
After using the Sputnik for a few days, I can tell you that not all micro hype. ... It's a different mic with a different sound
Take a look and listen!
