Peugeot Cars, Tennis And A French Aviator, What Do They Have In ...

What car manufacturer Peugeot, tennis and a French bomber have in common? The answer is, of Roland Garros. Still confused then read on and discover the wonderful relationship between the three.

Roland Garros was a World War fighter pilot, who was also famous for being the first person to make a non-stop flight across the Mediterranean Sea, south of France to Tunisia. Roland Garros was also the first driver to achieve a shot-down approach from a fighter plane with a propeller tractor.That lead to victories against the Germans, until Garros crash landed in Germany, in April 1915. He survived and even after being removed Garros escaped in February 1918. Unfortunately, October 5, 1918 Roland Garros was shot and killed while serving in the French army.

Turning to the 1920s, there was a tennis center, which was regularly attended by Roland Garros, while he was studying in Paris. Regarding his work and his dedication to country, tennis center was named Stade Roland Garros.This is the stage that now holds the French Open and Grand Slam tournaments, which are officially known as Roland Garros. Roland Garros tournaments take place between early May and late July
